Happy Birthday Krista....Chad & Adina are home!

    DSC01580-2.jpg picture by flyladyfaye

My first daughter is 26 today...that's hard to believe that the years melted away since the day she was born!
She works today but will come home tonight. We didn't see her for Christmas as her and her BF, Chris, alternate between homes for Christmas, so she was at Chris' parents.

Chad & Adina arrived through the night. I was sleeping when they came and now they are sleeping so I didn't get to see them yet. They stopped by friends in Charlottetown yesterday before coming out. They still haven't got there luggage, but it did arrive finally in Halifax. Adina's brother may pick it up so at least they'll have it before heading back home later this week. They were in Cape Breton at Adina's home for Christmas.

Megan will be out sometime today. She was here along with her dog, Tito, Christmas Eve and Christmas day. My Dad came Christmas day making four for dinner.

So all of us will be celebrating not only a late Christmas all together but Krista's birthday too! Paul has already booked the bowling alley for Monday late afternoon. I went to work at the store Friday afternoon and got my order away so I'd have Monday afternoon free. After bowling we'll go out to eat somewhere. We should have fun! Dad is even going to join us.

I haven't been on-line since Christmas. I was busy playing with my new toy, an iPod Touch. It's not a phone as our connection here is almost nil. But if I'm near a computer I can go on the Internet, which includes "face-book" and "Spaces". I have read a few blogs, but the keyboard is so tiny and though I have small hands it was very slow to comment as I kept hitting the wrong keys. There is also some "issue" with it as the page I open often closed suddenly. Because Krista works for iPod/iPhone she downloaded some programs for me. When she comes I'll get here to look at it and see what may be out of whack with it. It has a clock, calculator, address book and all sorts of games, music, a couple movies, pictures and stuff were added. I uploaded some myself like a Bible and "to do" list.

I also got a big comfy computer chair instead of the straight backed kitchen chair I was using. I gave Paul his 7 quart mixer. I got it at a "blowout" sale last summer at a great price. He has wanted it for along time. Though he knew he was getting it I wouldn't give it to him before Christmas!

Merry Christmas blessings to all my wonderful blogging friends!

May you all feel the joy and peace of Christ this Christmas and the year to come!

    Getting so close to Christmas!

    5Days.jpg picture by flyladyfaye

O.K....I'm not ready. Not much farther ahead then last week!  Though I did get our tree up and decorated, it's a new pre-lit tree so we avoid the hassle of lights. I hate putting them on, Paul won't put them on but he doesn't want a tree with no lights. I told him as we looked at them in the store that buying it will avoid a fight that was slowly brewing over the years!

I decided to stop with the panic over being ready Christmas day. As it is two of my children and one daughter-in-law will not be here for Christmas day. Not even sure yet if Megan will be here. That could leave just my dad, Paul, one dog, one cat and myself. It will be the 29th before all the kids are here together. Chad & Adina arrive in Halifax on the 23rd before heading to her home in Cape Breton for Christmas. They will be here from the 28th to the 31st. Krista works her birthday (her 25th on the 28th) Her and her BF, Chris, alternate between his home and her home for Christmas. They were here last year so this year it's Chris' turn for them to go to his home at the far end of the province in Tignish. Krista works on her birthday so the 29th is when we'll all get together to celebrate Christmas and her birthday. I'm still planning my work schedule to be home as much as I can when the kids are home. That may mean going into work at the store to do my ordering (Friday) so I can have Monday afternoon at least home. Sorry to ramble on about all this. It helps to sort things out if I write it down sometimes.

We are making our last trip to town today. Hopefully we won't be long. The kids and us have drawn names for stockings. This will be a mini Christmas celebration together, opening our stockings. Paul and I love the tradition of opening our stockings Christmas morning so we decided we will also give one to each other then (we'll get two stocking the other from our "Secret Santa" a couple days later!) Paul had already bought most of his gifts for my stocking before the kids decided on the other, but I hadn't got his yet as when we were in town the last time a few weeks ago Paul said "lots of time yet". Lots if you don't work every weekday! So today I have to get the stocking stuffers for two stockings, one for Paul and one for the name that Chris drew for me (he can't come so was kind to draw all our names and e-mail them to each of us)

The weather has changed again. We got a nice ground cover of snow during the week, don't know if it will leave us this time. The last couple days we've also got a good cold snap. I've felt colder of course but that usually waits 'til February by then we have acclimatized to the weather. Lots of surprises in the weather this week. Rare snow fell in Louisiana, Texas, and California. Of course since their snow falls are decades apart neither people nor road crews have any tools to hand this. The amount of snow that fell is very little for us in the northern parts of the continent so though I am happy for those who found enjoyment with the snow fall and compassion for those who had to travel unprepared, I'm sorry, but I do find their stories amusing. I guess everyone doesn't appreciate what they have plenty of whether it be money, friends, food, peace or just plain snow!

Hope you a have a great weekend and are ready for the Christmas holidays.

    Ah...Saturday

    P.gif picture by flyladyfaye
Well it's finally Saturday! Hopefully .... after this first pot of tea I will be able to get moving swiftly and get all the things done I saw needed done but didn't have the inclination/energy to pursue. With Christmas moving in fast still have all the decorating, wrapping and tree to adorn. This doesn't factor in that the fridge is going to soon walk away if I don't tackle it today. This is my least favourite chore. But things are falling out when I remove/look for anything and I already found two green items and they weren't veggies! Don't ask.

The weather has been topsy-turvy all week. Needless to say the whole continent including a rare day of snow in Louisiana and from what I read in Cheryl's blog also in southern Texas. I am happy that they loved this unusual "treat" but was amused at the excitement and chaos that a mere 2" caused. I'd never get out of the house from December to March if I couldn't travel in 2" of snow. Here we call it a "light dusting".

Well after the messy roads on Monday we had rain on Tuesday, some more snow on Wednesday, (I can't remember Thursday) and yesterday was unusually mild with strong winds and rain. By last night the temperature outside had climbed to a balmy 14'C/ 58'C! That was as warm as it is some days at work inside. This morning it is just a few degrees above freezing with light rain.

Seems I don't have much to talk about besides housework and weather. I guess 'cause my week was just work, sleep and when I found time, eat. Such a boring existence...ha ha!

Because of the unkind changes to Spaces I have found need visit all spaces whether updated or not. With all comments being recorded, unless you are on here all the time, I miss when blogs are undated...and I do truly miss that part of the old spaces! I'll just have to put up with or ignore the changes but it has been a pain and cut into my regular routine on here.

Well my list "to do" seems to be growing by the minute so I'll go visit a few blogs then close down the computer and begin to tackle it or Christmas Day will have arrived and I won't be ready!

Have a great day and super weekend!

    Snowy Monday

    D-MondayByElaine.gif picture by flyladyfaye
So it's Monday and after a wet rainy Sunday the temps have lowered enough to bring snow. I have drive in it this morning and since we haven't got our snow tires on yet I am a bit concerned. Mostly I worry about drifting as I have to go the shore road that is very unpredictable. I'll start out and if the visibility is too poor I'll just turn around and come home. This afternoon I'll be find getting to work, it's just a three minute walk to the store.

I was busy on Saturday, first getting as much of the housework done, which was needed it very bad as we went to town the last two weekends. Suppertime and into the evening was tiring as I volunteered to help with our Annual Seniors Christmas Dinner. First I delivered meals to those who weren't able to come then I manned the commercial dishwasher. My back was aching before I started, after 2-3 hours lifting trays in & out of the dishwasher it was really sore.

After a good nights sleep and sleeping in 'til 7 I was feeling much better. I had a quiet day. Went to church in the morning. After lunch I laid down and fell into a deep sleep for 1 1/2. The only thing I did after that was unload the dishwasher (at home) and sorted out my Christmas cards and organized my list.

Before I got a chance to begin them I had a wonderful unexpected phone call. I had lost touch with a dear old friend, my best friend in high school. I have been trying to find her for a couple years.

Well I searched and found her brother on "Face-book". From there I found her mom. I left a message on her mom's site. I guess Glenda's mom passed the message onto her and she called last night! We spent a glorious hour or more getting caught up on the years since we stopped writing each other.

Hope you have a great day!

I think I got it...re: finding old "home".

O.K. I just figured out part of this maze.
When you open up "home" or "Windows Live" you get what mail you got, who commented on someones blog and a whole bunch of stuff but it doesn't look like the old "home where we found out only who updated blogs. If you start at "home" as shown below, then go to "more". Under "more" click "spaces".

    The Windows Live home page

Then you get something like this:
    Cindy G
Cindy G commented on CAROL DEE's blog post LEARNING TO COPE..
"Can you change the size of your pictures by dragging in from the corners. You know, are the little squares there in the corner? Only an idea. Gas just went d..."
This enables you a place to get easily to your own blog or space and have updates on who wrote a new blog. I notice this also includes all comments my friends wrote on other blogs too, which I really don't care to read here, I'd rather go to these blogs and read the comments on the blog as before. So I think if I/we click on "What's New With Your Network" (see first picture)  then up top you can click "Customize what's new". This opens up to a new page where you have a choice to click what you want or don't want. If you are trying this it might be best to have two windows open, here for my, hopefully easier instructions and your own to try this out. As yet I haven't clicked on these options but if I follow my directions I think I can return and change it back if I don't like what I did :)
Hopefully this helps some of you that are as lost as I am!

    On other stuff:

Krista & Megan were out yesterday. It was Paul's birthday on Tuesday, so part of their birthday gift was to come out for the day yesterday and help Paul get all the wood stacked up by the building. They worked hard and had it all done before I came home from work. Paul made a supper of baked beans. I brought a store bought cake and ice cream and Paul opened his other gifts from the girls. They left shortly after 7pm so I even had a couple hour visit with both of them.

After being in town to Saturdays in a row and working all week I am ready for a day home tomorrow. I need some quiet space and the house needs some major cleaning and picking up. I have no other responsibilities until 4:30. We have our Annual Seniors Christmas Dinner tomorrow. I will deliver some of the meals for shut-ins and then come back to our community centre and help fill plates for those who can come and eat in. Then I am the one who usually operates the dishwasher so I'll stay and help cleanup too. But until then I have the day home!

Have a great day and super weekend!

    Lost in Space(s)

    Lost_in_space_TV.jpg picture by flyladyfaye

O.K...I haven't been on spaces for a couple days and they change things all around!
After my initial "What the ...!" I think of one of my old favourite T.V. shows Lost in Space. I feel I'm really lost in spaces. I just don't have time to orient myself to all these sudden changes. For one thing I have so many more steps to just get to my blog let alone everyone else's! And "Home" is not the home I'm used to. Another thing I just can't open other blogs in a new window. They made changes before and I finally caught on but this seems so much more complicated. I'm like a mouse in a maze!

Anyway ...putting all this aside I just thought I'd leave a bit of an update of what I've been up to.
Saturday we went to town and we got most of our Christmas shopping done which is a first for us as we usually don't start 'til well into December. Paul's birthday was yesterday. I find him hard to shop for so Saturday I let him pick out his own. We went to Mark's Work Warehouse and he got some clothes. I thought we'd be early getting home but left a bit late and got stuck in traffic down town. We didn't plan on watching the Santa Clause parade but as it turned out we couldn't avoid it and had to wait 'til it past to get out of town. By the time we got out we went to Sobeys to get our groceries it was well after 8pm before we got home.

Sunday was church in the morning, a nap in the afternoon (I need this if I'm going to watch DH, it's on from 10 - 11 here). We went bowling again early in the evening. I don't bowl well by a long short but didn't get any under 100 so that is an improvement for me!

Then just work on Monday & Tuesday. I was able to get the spare room back together after a joint effort in painting the room.. I still need to shorten curtains and put up the blind and curtain rods. If I find time before Chad & Adina arrive for the holidays I would like to get the closet painted too.

I designed and began to cut out "angels" from bristol board for a tree we have over Christmas at church. People buy and angel with a loved ones name on it and these are hung during Lent.

Our new church is coming along great but I guess we won't be in before Christmas as we have to wait for a bunch of inspectors to come and inspect the wiring, heating etc. It was exciting Monday at work when a truck brought the big buckets of paint to the store. This is the paint for our church. Next Monday the painter is expected to start painting inside our church with this paint, so it must be coming along good.

I really need a full day home as we went to town shopping to Saturdays in a row. This Saturday won't be free either as we will be preparing, delivering or serving our annual Seniors Christmas Dinner. This isn't church related but a community event.

Any information on this new "Spaces" is greatly appreciated from my friends who are more inclined or have the time to figure this mess out will be graciously received!

Have a great day to all my friends here (if you can find me in this maze!).
    Hugs, Faye
