3月26日 Jewel Quest Solitaire![]() Well I'm recovering from the busy week last week. On top have Community School closing Monday night, sign language class Tuesday night and church Thur., Fri., and two on Sunday, I was also sleeping very poorly. Last night I had a great sleep and I feel so much better. A couple more of those is what I need!
![]() Just taking things slow and easy when not at work. I had my last Sign Language class last night. Our instructor told us (of the three that went) that we've come a long way from the 1st night. He says he'll have two classes next year, a beginners and us, the more advanced. I just hope I don't forget too much by next January!
![]() Paul and I have been into a new card game I downloaded from the Internet. There is a virus, called a "dropper". I think all this does is bring up a "message from sponsors" after every hand. It sure is fun and the graphics are awesome. If you aren't scared of getting a new addiction try it yourself...I dare you! You can download by clicking this, Jewel Quest Solitarie. Paul is beating me...
[note: removed this link due to the virus "Trojan Horse"]
I don't work Thursday, and my biggest plans are getting a hair cut, hem pants for Dad and maybe finish my latest book, "The Veil" by Diane Noble.
3月22日 Happy Easter Everyone!![]() Happy Easter everyone. I'm writing this a few hours early. Even though I am an early bird I will doubt if I will be on early tomorrow I'll be at our Sunrise Service at the beach at 6:30. And I may not get a chance through the day. Unless we have extreme poor weather like the last two, (big blizzard last year even all the indoor services were cancelled for all local churches...an a torrential downpour the year before) A bit of rain or snow won't keep me away. It's only attended by 12 or more. I hope it's not cloudy, it's so beautiful there as it's overlooking the water and nothing blocks the sun as it peeps over the horizon.
Paul will be at the pancake breakfast, he's head "chef". There's 3-4 big pitchers of his homemade batter in our fridge waiting for the morning. I will be coming home after the sunrise service. I'd rather a quiet breakfast with tea and cereal. I may get a chance to visit some of you then before our 11 o'clock service. Krista plans on coming out for church. Megan is at her BF parents for dinner but will be here for supper. Chad is in Cape Breton at his wife's parents for Easter. So for supper we will have Krista (her BF has to work), Megan (her BF can't make it),Dad, Paul, Me and a friend from Newfoundland, Stella, that's here to work. Her husband is in Alberta working and her kids are spread all over.
Oh I almost forgot...my son is a sweetheart...he called long distance to our local grocer. Asked him to pick out a plant that I'd like (remember I worked there for years so they know me well). We didn't even know until Paul went over to get the eggs, milk etc for the pancakes. Paul brought them home and said "these are from Chad". Well they are white daisy mums. Daisies are my favourite flower of all so they couldn't have made a nicer choice. I called Chad up right away, I was so touched. Thanks again Chad!
Hope everyone enjoys their Easter whatever plans you have! 3月21日 Good Friday![]() Today is Friday. Here comes the weekend! Today is Good Friday. Many of you are having a long weekend.
I'm a little perplexed with the graphic above. Sure I want me and everyone to be happy it's Friday, to be happy everyday of the week. But "Good Friday" even that term "good" doesn't sound right. Good Friday we remember that last hours of Jesus death right up to a painful death. Was it a "good" day when the Jesus mother, friends and disciples watched all this? I'd be much more inclined to call today "God's Friday". And now on to "happy". We say "Merry" Christmas, "Happy" Easter, "Happy" Halloween, "Happy" Birthday or Annniversary. But do we say when there is a funeral or wake, Happy Wake! Though I hope everyone has a good day this Friday and are happy today and always!
OK I'll stop now with the sermon....with a very moving Maundy Thursday service and looking toward Easter I'm in a contemplative frame of mind of mind. Don't worry...my kids still were visited by the Easter Bunny (before we bundled them up to take them out for an early sunrise service at the beach) And I'll gladly eat eggs for breakfast if they are the little chocolate mini eggs!
![]() 3月19日 Happy Wednesday![]() We were lucky and missed a major snow storm! We did get a lot of high winds yesterday but no snow with it. Poor Newfoundland got it though...their third in a week...60cm with this one. Today is still cold but it's going to be sunny all day.
![]() Our debut with "O Canada" didn't go as well as I expected. The 1/2 doz that showed up knew it well but our piano player didn't show up 'til after we were done. We had a woman sing for us but she sang it so fast we couldn't keep up and missed a lot of signs. O well. Last night we had a class and another one next Tuesday, our last, 'cause we missed two because of bad weather two Tuesdays.
![]() ![]() Going to miss more sleep 'cause Survivor and BB are both on tonight but thankfully not at the same time so we don't have to switch back and forth. They are on at 9 and 10 pm. Last night BB was on at 10 also therefore it was after 11 before I got to bed and I still wake at 5:30 or 6 anyway.
Hope you all have a great day! 3月16日 Sunday...beginning of Holy Week
Well Palm Sunday is over.
Sunday School was a bit confusing as one teacher forgot to tell us she had to go away. Found out later she had some personal upsets with the kids and her ex. Also another teacher was substituting for another. She wasn't prepared for the lesson...I guess I didn't check my messages last night. I was "busy" relaxing in a long bubble bath, candles the whole bit (Paul was out to cards) When I got out I just relaxed until I went to bed. Hadn't heard the phone so didn't check for calls. Anyway things turned out O.K The other teacher who did come just photocopied her lesson and gave it to her. I took the older class...yes I got the twins from last year and a couple more from the older class. As it was I had extra treats, crafts prepared so we did alright.
Cleaning up I tried to talk to the minister but she seemed aloof. After she left I found out that she just found out before church that her son was being taken to the Halifax hospital. She didn't even as yet know why. As it was she was out walking the dog early and missed the call. So other family members took over and all Rev. Beth knew was from this short message. When I got home I left her a message apologizing as it was announced in church after we were out to SS class. She would be so worried she wouldn't realize I didn't know.
After a small lunch of left overs both Paul and I had our Sunday afternoon naps.
Big Brother tonight!
My week is already getting full:
Monday: work am and pm. Community School Closing in the evening. I have to take sandwiches (and make them) Usually I don't go to the closing but our Sign Language class is "singing" O Canada.
Tuesday: I have an appointment in the afternoon, don't know if I'll be back to get my afternoon job done but I'm not crying over that lol.
Wednesday: work am and pm
Thursday: I'll be going sometime through the day to the church as it's open 10 -4 for quiet, individual prayer/meditation. I enjoy this. In the evening Paul had offered to do Maundy Thursday Service. He's short of readers...so I guess I'll take one or two.
Friday: work in the morning and in the afternoon is my church job. I'll have two or three bulletins to print. Then in the evening I'll go to my second favourite service...Good Friday.
Saturday....Free day...no Sunday School this week so I don't even have to prepare a lesson!!
Sunday: My favourite service...Sunrise service at 6:30 am at the beach. Only about a dozen show up for this. Missed the last two as last year we had a raging blizzard and the year before was a torrential downpour! 8:00 am is a pancake breakfast but I forfeit this as I just head back home and relax. Paul is head of this so he'll be there while, if the weather is nice I'll take a second cup and finish watching the sunrise on my deck. Then we have our regular 11 am Easter Service that usually is quite well attended.
Whew... I'm tired just thinking of it!
3月14日 "Everythings up to date in Kansas City..."![]() Sorry if I've worried anyone.....I didn't realize that over a week has gone by since I made a new blog!
This time I'm going to blame the time change.....I just can't seem to get going early and in the evening I just want to crash on the couch and head to bed early.
Not much news to pass on. Same old, same old. We did go to town yesterday....my big outing...haha. Picked up some new kitchen and bath matts. Got four t-shirts for myself in happy spring colours....when I got home I promptly throughout some T's that I felt dull and ugly in. Didn't go all out but enough to try and bring a little spring inside even though there isn't much to show outside.
O.K. ...this may make me sound like a real hick, but I'm going to tell it anyway. (By the way, the title of this blog is from an old song Mom & Dad had on an old 40's LP that I used to listen to over and over and over.)We went to McDonalds for lunch...I went to the restroom. It's all remodeled since my last visit...looks alright....but what really surprised me was that other than the door I didn't need to touch anything. When I stood up...the toilet flushed for me....soap dispensed from the deispenser...warm water rinsed my hands....then the dryer dried them. I know this is old hat to all you "big city" people but other than the motion sensor hand dryer it was my first time experiencing these new contraptions. I know growing up my mom said someday everything will be just push button society. Everything will be done with just a push of a button.(compared to the old dial phone, TV. etc.) But know it has moved far beyond that. It's making us so lazy we can't even flush our own bodily wastes down the toilet anymore!
(Found the song:)
EVERYTHING'S UP TO DATE IN KANSAS CITY
From the stage show "Oklahoma" (Richard Rodgers / Oscar Hammerstein II) Will Parker & Chorus I went to Kansas City on a Friday By Saturday I learned a thing or two But up 'till then I didn't have an idea Of what the mod'rn world was comin' to. I counted twenty gas buggies goin' by theirselves Almost every time I took a walk An' then I put my ear to a bell telephone An' a strange woman started into talk. What next! What next? Everything's up to date in Kansas City They gone about as fer as they can go They went an' built a skyscraper seven stories high About as high as a buildin' orta grow. Everything's like a dream in Kansas City It's better than a magic lantern show. You can turn the radiator on whenever you want some heat With every kind of comfort every house is all complete. You could walk the privees in the rain and never wet your feet! They've gone about as fer as they can go. They've gone about as fer as they can go! Everything's up to date in Kansas City They've gone about as fer as they can go They got a big theatre they call a burleque For fifty cents you could see a dandy show! One of the gals is fat and pink and pretty As round above as she was round below I could swear that she was padded from her shoulder to her heel But then she started dancin' and her dancin' made me feel That every single thing she had was absolutely real! She went about as fer as she could go Yes, Sir! She went about as fer as she could go! Hope everyone has had a great week and looking foward to a great weekend!
Faye 3月6日 Thursday![]() Do you think if I change my theme here to a cheerful spring look that spring will follow suit? Our weather hasn't been as bad as some places...we are lucky that we will have a mild day with maybe rain to wash away some snow. This can make me feel like spring will eventually come...but it will be followed by some nasty weather and more snow. Yesterday was a nasty day as we first had snow which quickly turned to freezing drizzle. By the time I was home for the day I was so sick of scraping ice off the car windows. Today has turned around and is nice and sunny. The temperatures hover just around the freezing mark so it's unpredictable if we get snow, ice or rain. Surely spring must be around the corner!
![]() Just a normal week. We canceled Sunday School on Sunday because the weather was nasty and some teachers couldn't even get out. Church went on as usual but we played hooky and stayed home. I guess not many turned up for church. Paul is giving up Sunday School superintendent and I am seriously thinking of taking a break too. I spend part of my weekday reading over the lesson...much of Saturday preparing...and reviewing Sunday morning before church. This doesn't include being the second one at the church to get my classroom ready and the 2nd or last leaving after cleaning up my room. (the minister is the first there and leaves around the same time as us) We both miss relaxing and enjoying a full church service. I am torn between teaching the kids or sitting in church. I'll miss the kids and feel guilty but so much of my week will be freed. I think I should really take a leave for a year or so and let the 30 somethings take more responsibility.
I gave my letter of resignation to the Official Board chair. So after I finish typing the last minutes I think I am done with that. Tonight is another church meeting though...Session. Paul is chair and I offered to do the devotion. I warned Paul to make sure things are kept on track so we get home early and don't miss much if any of Survivor!
I'm home today and just planning to get caught up in some housework (and look at the SS lesson).
Hope you are having a great week wherever you are.
3月1日 Sunday School Fun Night
Well here is an update on last night: Paul and I drove to Montague and got the pizzas at Greco; five party pizza and two donair pizza. (They do deliver but we are outside the deliver range) The kids were back from their skate when we arrived all hyped up from skating and waiting for the pizza to arrive. Last year we were short on pizza but their were a few pieces left even after the parents and teachers had enough. Lots of chips and sweets were also brought or left by parents and others to keep them happy for the evening.
Greco Pizza Restaurant is a franchise restaurant chain consisting of over 170 restaurants in Eastern Canada, whose menu is highlighted by pizza delivery. The first restaurant opened in 1977 in Moncton, New Brunswick as Greco Donair...and Pizza. In 1981 the franchise rights were sold to Grinner's Food Systems Limited. Today Greco Pizza is the number one pizza delivery chain in Atlantic Canada expanding into Ontario and Quebec.
Since 1995, Greco has marketed itself using the telephone number 310-30-30. From 1995 to the early 2000s, this number was pronounced in an official jingle three one oh, three oh, three oh". In the early 2000s, this was changed to say "three ten, thirty thirty".

After pizza was over and cleaned up I was beginning to find the racket a bit much. I went upstairs to the choir room where movies were to be watched. Not an adult to be seen as I caught a bunch of kids carrying on with one big boy hauling a younger boy out of the Sunday School supply room...another hiding in there; then I heard the organ being banged on in the sanctuary...in there were another 10 or so kids running around and others up in the balcony. I scooted them out of there and got them all (or most) back downstairs.
By then my head was spinning...worked all day...junk food for supper ...the kids...I found it a bit overwhelming so told Paul I was heading home and I'd be back later to pick him up. I unloaded the car and remade the bed (Paul took off the electric blanket and pillows for the sleep over we expected...I love my electric blanket) I read for awhile but felt like I was ready to sleep so I went back up to the church before I became to tired to drive. I took Homer with me and the kids got a kick out of him, many already knew him that lived in our neighbourhood. The kids were settled into groups by then...some little ones were watching movies, others playing various board games etc. Paul was over in one corner involved in a game of "Twister". One poor little girl was all twisted up under Paul. When Paul went to make a difficult move and I went to keep him from falling over she scooted out from under him really quick!
All in all they had a great time....some kids went home to spend the night with their friends since they were prepared for a sleepover anyway. Me....I went straight to bed.
