    Ayla

    Ayla

Meet Ayla, my new kitten got yesterday. It has been along time since I've had a kitten, cat yes, but kitten no. I forgot how inquisitive they are. She has been trying to chew electrical cords, not good. It has been harder to incorporate her into the household since we also now have Megan's puppy, Tito, living with us also. Homer is used to cats, and I think he would rather a cat than another dog around. Ayla gets her name from the heroine of "The Clan of the Cave Bear" series of books I've been reading. It was hard getting a good picture of her, she just won't keep still long enough! I am lucky that her mother's owners have trained her already to use litter and eat dry food. I can't wait 'til she grows up and her personality comes out.

    Sunny Sunday in May

    PoemBlue-vi.jpg picture by flyladyfaye
I posted pictures of most of our Bottle Cap Pin Cushions. I don't want to scare you by showing the 1st ones...haha.

We had nice weather all day, not hot but sunny, warm and mainly no rain. I pruned a Spirea this morning until Paul called me in to get ready for church. I didn't even come in early enough to shower, it like getting a kid to come in for bed on a summers evening trying to get me in when I'm elbows deep in dirt. Well I just washed my face and hands, threw on makeup and clothes, before we got to the church I discovered a streak of dirt on my arms. Oh well, I had fun in the sun anyway.

Enjoyed a nice relaxing service, Paul helped Dad with taking up the offering, and that was the extent of any partication in church today.  We had lunch with L & W at Brehaut's (now this is our local restaurant & take-out, our only one, so on any future blogs I'll just say Brehaut's and all my regular readers will know what I'm talking about).

I quickly changed and went to tackle my other Spirea in the front yard. Since neither of us was hungry for supper after a late lunch I transformed one Hosta into three to spread it out in one bed.

When Stephen got home from work, Megan got supper for them both, again at Brehaut's, and treated us. Both Paul and I had dessert instead of supper...a butterscotch sundae each.

That's it now I'm going to watch a little TV and/or play a game of solitaire on the computor.

Note: Here are a couple websites that are helpful if you are interested in making pin cushions yourself.

    Saturday - relaxing!

    ND.gif picture by flyladyfaye

This will not be as long a blog!  I must get (try anyway) to blog more often instead of trying to fill in a whole week.

Didn't stress today, got some of the housework done but when noon came I just said to myself to put it out of my mind. It won't be any harder dusting if it's left another week. I did get the fridge cleaned and the floors swept.

Well since I was sleeping next to a snorer I was woken up just after 3 am. I laid awake until the boats in the harbour started up for their day of fishing. So instead of continuing to think about what I wanted to do today I just got up and dressed.

Well after lunch that called for a little nap! After making a cup of tea I started making a "Bottle Cap Pin Cushion". It's supposed to be a mushroom.

After that was done we were invited next door for a birthday BBQ. This also christened the neighbour's new deck they finished last week. There were so many salads, veggie dip, fresh mussels that I didn't even bother to have a burger or hot-dog. I helped with the dishes then came home.

After Paul left for his Saturday night card game I made another pin cushion, this time I made a cupcake with a little candle. Cindy has Megan & I hooked on making these cute little things. They don't take long and are fun to use our imaginations to think of new things to make of them. I was set to post some pictures but after the first shot the battery went dead. So now it's in the charger. I need a spare, sounds like a good idea for a birthday present.

Tomorrow is church. It's so nice to not spend 1/2 my Saturday getting a Sunday School lesson ready.  Now I can just sit in church and relax and worship with everyone else.

So just a little bit of housework, a nap, no supper to cook and two pin cushions made. Don't want to tire you guys out anymore...haha

(O.K. ...I lied I'm longer winded than I planned to be.)

Hope your weekend is going great!

    ...and then there were four.

We had all the kids out on Sunday, including the boyfriends. We all met at Brehaut's, including Dad and our NH friends Larry and Wendy.

Stephen, Megan's BF, began working at the fish factory nearby on Monday. Therefore they are giving up their apartment in town and have moved in with us. This should/will only be for the summer months, Stephen will be back to University in the fall. Along with the kids is Tito, their little Pon-Chu.

Tuesday Paul and I went to town, the first time we ate at Cora's. Their cocktail was so good. I love fruit and veggies but since I don't like omelets, eggs, or crepes I didn't have much left to choose from. What I  did get was good though.

Wed. was busy. I took another run with the mail in the morning, I wanted to see how things would work out with my other two jobs that day. It worked out fine I still had the boys dinner ready by noon, did some cleaning after instead of first. Then I just had a very short lunch break before donning my secretary hat for my job at the church!

Yesterday was the first (and only day) we had for at least a week without rain. So it was outside I went. Well most of the day...I just had to get some tickets and posters made for the church...got the tickets printed but after 3 posters the printer decided to be cantankerous. I was in and out trying to get the blasted thing to work. When Megan got home from work we tried one last time...well when it began smoking for the second time out it went with the trash!

What I did get done yesterday? Scrubbed the floors (new puppy...really had too!), thinned/dug up some plants for the library's plant sale tomorrow, made room in the rhubarb patch for a  new plant, (actually old 'cause it was from Paul's parents old house), Paul and I cleaned out the pond (only small) and cut back some overgrown plants. Then I took it on myself to give Homer a major spring hair cut. A lot of hair flew as he is part husky/collie mix! I kept most of it gathered in bags but plenty was left to line our feathered friends nests with soft fur!

    Have a great weekend!

Chad & Adina, mail route and hummingbirds

    gardening.gif picture by flyladyfaye
If I don't drop by a write a new blog this morning I may not get another chance 'ti the first of the week.

Twice this week I got out practicing the mail route and sorting out the rural mail.  I rather enjoyed it. But of course I wasn't driving and putting the mail in the boxes, Lorraine was doing the driving and I just had to put them in from the passengers side. It's another thing reaching all the way over from the drivers side. Mostly drivers straddle the middle of the front seat but since our car is a standard it is impossible to do it her way. Paul said he'd do the driving for me. This will only be a fill-in position for when Lorraine wants a holiday or is sick or mother sick etc.

Now that "the boats are running", (this means that our ferry from PEI to Nova Scotia have started their crossings after being tied up all winter due to ice in the Strait), our son, Chad and his wife Adina along with their "baby" Lexy, an am-staff terrier, are coming for their first visit since Christmas. They'll be here sometime this evening and will leave Sunday afternoon. We will see them again in June before they head up to Dawson Creek in northeastern BC for 2-3 years.

Krista is working but has Sunday off so she will come out Sunday and get to see her brother for a short spell anyway. She also said she'll take me out for a belated Mother's Day.

Krista and some friends went to Halifax earlier this week to see the band "Queen of the Stone Age". Paul went with them, (Halifax that is, not the concert). He visited some friends and went out to a restaurant with Chad.

When Paul was away Megan came and took me out to Brehaut's, our local restaurant, she later stayed the night. It was nice for just the two of us to spend time together.

Our hummingbirds arrived Tuesday! The females should be here in another week or two to begin nesting. So finally I feel like spring is really here!

    Saturday

    H-Saturday1.gif picture by flyladyfaye

I'm still around. Yesterday I planned on blogging and/or blog walking but the computer was too slow and kept freezing up. Then at noon electric crew were replacing poles up the street and just as I was signing in the power was disconnected, it came on in time for me to head out the door.

Last weekend the weather turned out as nice as predicted so I gardened all day. The same through the first half of the week. Thursday we were in town all day and we were so late coming home, Paul just dropped me off to a church meeting at 7 pm. He went home to unload the groceries etc. It was raining so hard that he was soaked and didn't return to the meeting. I had to go as I offered to do the devotion. If I didn't do that I may have had to chair the meeting which I'd despise and I don't mind doing the devotion.

I picked up a new pair of sneakers and some gardening tools. As much as I hate shopping we had a fun day. After one appointment Paul had we had to take the car in for it's check up. So we were on foot while the car was at the dealers. I felt like a teenager again running across the highway and into the malls and stores. I haven't done that since my college days in town. Paul said he'd just follow me...I said he'd better be careful then 'cause my friends so many times had to pull me back when I'd J-walk in front of traffic...haha!   I didn't feel bad that I didn't exercise that morning after all that walking. We went from the dealership to the Audiologist then down to Walmart and up to Micheals. Cindy, I got all the supplies for the Bottlecap pin cushions so I'm ready to start them now.

We've had "spring tides" so the tides were really low this week that gave me some good days to look for seaglass. I was really thrilled yesterday to find a large chunk of blue. Mostly I can only find little tiny pieces. Then heading back I found in some seaweed a big (rare also) square grey one.

Well today the weather took a loop and it is cold, overcast and drizzly this morning. Rain this afternoon. So I guess my house will get a bit of a work done to it as it was completely ignored all week and last weekend.

    ThePlainsofPassage.jpg picture by flyladyfaye

I finished reading "The Mammoth Hunters" which was one of the longest novels I've ever read, I have started the next one, "The Plains of Passage" which looks just as long. One more book left after this one. I really love and am into this series. So much that, even though I don't have a kitten yet (getting one this spring) I have a name picked out for her already. She'll be named after the main character, Ayla.

Not sure what I'm doing today though I have lots of hobbies and reading to keep me occupied after I get the house straightened up. One thing I won't have to do is a Sunday School lesson...tomorrow is our closing so there aren't any classes. Since I plan to take a sabbatical and Paul is giving up the role of Sunday School Superintendant we are free to just sit in church all summer and into next year. Though I'll miss the kids I really need the break and nurious my own spirit and soul on Sundays. I'll now look forward more to Saturdays too as I won't have to spend a big chunk of of it preparing a lesson!

I put up my hummingbird feeders last week...they should be here today or anytime this week...can't wait to see the first one!

    This n' That

    Revolving_Door.gif picture by flyladyfaye
Our house has been like a revolving door this past two weeks. We rarely see the kids now Megan was here for two nights when Stephen was away, then after one night in her own place she spent another night, only because it snowed and the roads were slushy and icy. Then Krista came out for one night while she spent her "holidays" sick with the shingles. Krista is back to work and feeling much better. Last night Megan and her boyfriend, Stephen came. They, along with Paul, are helping Freddie, Paul's brother, with "setting day". Yes it's lobster season again! I am dog sitting for Megan & Stephen and doing her laundry. It has been raining all week but at least it's not as cold and rain is better than snow!  We never use the dryer anymore, except when Megan comes with hers. So I figured I might as well do them now than her rushing to get them done when she gets back this afternoon.  I'm leaving mine 'til the weekend when it will be warm and sunny and I can hang them out. I'm leaving mine 'til the weekend when it will be warm and sunny and I can hang them out.

The little boy who was burnt last week has had skin grafts to his leg. He has 3rd degree burns from the knee down on the front and 2nd on the back of his leg. Yesterday he was able to sit up in a wheel chair. I guess they are pretty painful. When they have to change his dressing they will need to put him under.

    Have a great rest-of-the-week!
