    Trip to the nursery Friday

Friday was a most interesting day. The morning, my home-care job, didn't go exactly as planned. Every minute counts to get things done in just an hour and a half. So this morning little things I didn't expect happened. The most annoying and time consuming was when the washer hose leaked (again) I had three loads to get dried, two of them to wash. The first load was already washed by the other lady that comes Tues. & Thurs. The second was the sheets I stripped from the beds, and the third was a blanket on the couch that the cat got sick on. Well the second load was in the washer when I went into the porch (where the washer was) to sweep the floor. I discovered water pouring out of a leak in the hose. This happened before and I remedied it with blue duct tape. So I had to stop the washer, pull up the hose to stop the water coming out, dry off the hose and fiddle around with the tape and wrap up the hose even farther. I suppose I'll have to get a new one and attempt to put it on myself...sigh.

That out of the way I had to rush and get dinner finished, the floors done, bathroom cleaned and I just couldn't leave with the beds stripped so had to make them up, fold the clothes and put away. A couple other problems surfaced but I can't go into. Anyway I did get everything that had to be done out of the way and grabbed the garbage and threw them in the bins out at the end of the lane.

By the time I got the mail and arrived home I had an hour, just to shower change and make and eat a toasted BLT. The night before (Thursday) I left a note to myself at the store what I wanted to get done on Friday. I immediately began replenishing the milk cooler. I was in the walk-in cooler getting the milk when Mr. Boss said we're leaving in half an hour. I assumed it was Mr & Mrs. Boss, so I asked where they were going, when he answered "No, you and I. We're going to the nursery in Montague to get our garden plants. So, there went my list right out the door :) It was great fun filling trays of plants, picking out what I thought would sell and Mr. Boss doing likewise. The best part I didn't have to foot the bill :)  As we were leaving we stopped at Tim Horton's and he bought a coffee and I got my large Tim's Green Tea that I just love! I had my iTouch I got for Christmas so with a calculator on it I set to work on the drive home with the invoice and got our retail prices. I was already when we arrived back at the store to price them and make a sign when all the plants were unloaded and set up in the gazebo the guys erected in the morning. By this time it was 4:30 just enough time to top off the milk again, check the pop coolers and price a couple of cases of Island beef and chicken that came while I was away!

As they say "A change is as good as a rest", not sure on the rest part as I was pretty tired when I climbed into bed that night, but it was all in all and interesting day for a work day!

Some more garden pictures I took this morning:

The first two I got just before the sun went behind a cloud.

I haven't been around visiting for such a long time nor updated my blog! My apologies for any concerns. I have just been busy with everyday life. Last weekend I was busy trying to get more painting done in the kitchen. Two windows took much longer than I thought and after that the weather was half decent so I took advantage of it and cleaned up a flower bed. Sunday, being Mother's Day, was filled. Megan had stayed the night, she came to church the next morning and Krista came with her boyfriend.  The girls treated me after to a nice lunch at Pizza Delight, Dad and Paul joined us. Krista had picked up a bouquet of Tulips that Chad had wired. When we got back to the house Chad called to wish me a happy Mother's Day. It was late afternoon before the girls left. The next thing it was Monday morning and my work week began again.

Herman asked if I'd post pictures of my Daffodils when they bloomed. (Last week I only had one lonely bloom) Now many of my Tulips bulbs I planted also last year are also in bloom. Mother's Day was also special as  I had my first Humming bird of the season at my feeder. I know spring is really hear when I see them!  Paul has given the lawn it's first cut, though he has been busy and hasn't done the trimming yet with the push mower.

I will make this blog short as there isn't anything else going on in my life of interest other than work, eat, sleep...as I want to visit as many, if not all my friends before I get caught up in another day of house/garden chores!

Hope you are having a great weekend!

    Daffodil & Sunny weekend

I have one daffodil in bloom with others ready to follow in a few days and the tulips are beginning to bud. Even the grass that was so slow to turn green is turning nice and lush. Paul has returned to golfing and I hate to bring it to his attention but it may even need a mowing in the next week!

Saturday began out gloomy and wet so I started to paint the kitchen. I was tired of the dark, chocolate milk coloured walls and am painting them a fresh cream colour. I thought it wouldn't be much to do as we have lots of windows and cupboards. But as I progressed I realized that inside every cupboard and drawers will need to be to be painted also. I think this may turn into a summer project! I got one coat on most of the walls, after painting all around doors and windows from 9 am - 6 pm and still have one area, behind the washer, dryer and pantry cupboards to do. The kitchen is so disarrayed with everything taken down with most of the stuff on the kitchen table! I was exhausted by supper time so it was a trip to Brehaut's restaurant for take-out.

Sunny proved out to be a beautiful, warm day. After church I decided not to paint but enjoyed an afternoon cleaning up one large bed. After two days of take-out I thought I better do some cooking and made dry garlic spareribs, fried rice and took some egg rolls out of the box. It all turned out really good. Paul went out for a bit in the evening so I laid down for an early evening nap before Desperate Housewives came on at 10.

Today is going to be another fine day. I have the wash started, so it will be hung out to dry. Then off to work to begin another week.
