    Friday

I have been so slack at keeping updates here. I have been in a reading mood and have been going through a book every few days! Besides when I expect a "day off" something comes up. Like Tuesday. I didn't have anywork as of Monday pm. Then a supper I was asked to bottle at the winery, in the evening the other woman who homecares on alternate days had to take her dad for tests and asked to trade with me. I was done at the winery about 2 pm then scooted across the way. (They are both "out at the shore road" just right near each other) So I cleaned and cooked for "the boys" (both 70+) So that was my day "off".

Since we traded though I had Wednesday morning off. I followed the advice of many of you and took the morning for "me time". Instead of cleaning the house I took my early birthday present, a new digital camera, and was taking pictures of birds and flowers all morning until the battery gave out and I had to recharge it. I had to get ready for a my hair appointment then to my afternoon job anyway. I had it on continuously patiently waiting in the sidelines for birds to come to my feeders. I posted the birds that I was able to catch.

Yesterday I had my annual (well it was two years instead of one) in the morning. I have had a lump on my thumb joint so brought this up. It may be the start of arthritis but I've only noticed it a few months. I think it could be dislocated possible so I went over to the hospital for X-rays on it. I sure felt stupid holding my thumb getting X-rays. But if it's not "OA" I wanted to be sure in case something could be done before I got "old" and it gave me more trouble. There is so much I use my right thumb for! We also stopped to visit Joyce who remains in the hospital. Freddie thinks she'll be home soon, we don't tell him we doubt if she'll ever come home again. The poor fellow is worn out with fishing and staying nights with her.

I was also kept "occupied" with making a bunch of signs and posters for our Canada celebrations that we are having Monday instead since Canada Day falls on Sunday this year. Sunday afternoon we have to get the burgers patties made and prepare the potato salad for the lobster plates on Monday.

Next week I'll have to bunker down and get ready for "my" service next Sunday. Anyone want to do children's time for me? Ha-ha.

    Have a great weeked everyone!

My goodness, it's almost a week since my last blog! I had been very stress over the sermon I was to write for July 8th. I have ended up working at least one job everyday except Sunday. All I could think of was getting the sermon done. I was using mornings and any time I was home to work at it. Since it was a rainy Thursday I didn't have to work at the winery and took the day to finally get it together. I know it's not for another few weeks but I just couldn't relax and blog nor garden until it was done. So yesterday I finally have it together I think, maybe just a little tweaking of it. I am so glad to have that out of the way! I'll have to remember not to say "yes" next summer if asked. There just isn't time to work at it when I work more hours in the summer. At least, even though I was in the gardening mood, it was too wet to even go out. I sure missed my computer buddies! Besides the sermon I had posters to make for Ceilidhs, and also some for our up coming Canada Day.

Well I just wanted you to know all was well. I'm off to do some blog-walking before I must get ready for work. I home-care this morning, go to Dad's for my weekly lunch visit then to work at the church office. Tomorrow I'll be all day at the winery again. The sneakers worked great, no sore foot. But I don't know if I'd get off wearing jeans and sneakers everyday there. My boss likes us to dress up a bit since I work with the public.  Anyway hope you all have a great day, I'm off to blog-walk. If I don't get to you today I should be around tomorrow morning before work if I get moving early enough.

PS Anyone want to send some off their extra warm temps over here? I'm tired of the cold wet days. I'd love to wear shorts at least one day...I even turned on the furnace this week I was so cold while Ontario and many states are sweltering in the heat!

    Saturday

I'm heading out shortly to work the day at the winery.  I'd rather be gardening (or blog-walking) but that's O.K. We are finally going to have a nice warm sunny day.  I think I'll just wear jeans and a dressy top so I can wear sneakers. That should avoid another sore foot like I got last Saturday. It shouldn't be too hot 'cause it near the Northumberland Strait and is usually cooler there.

I got the vegetable bed tilled on Thursday so I think Paul may get some of the garden planted. That will be nice. He already has a few pepper and tomato plants so if he gets them in it will add some green to it.

Tomorrow is Father's Day. We got some live lobsters from Freddie so I think I am going to ask Dad to come to our house for a late lunch. We have church in the morning and a "short" meeting after. We sold our church in Murray Harbour and need to discuss some issues. We are in the process of selling the Little Sands Church and when we build a new church in a couple years we will also be selling the Murray River Church.

Have a great Saturday and super Sunday!

This week I feel like that little donkey! A month ago I was just begging for work....
Saturday went fine...I started out the day at the winery working in the shop...alone...the boss dropped by occasionally which was comforting to know he wasn't too far if I got into anything serious. I met lots of interesting people. A couple locals but many from BC, Alberta and Ontario. Some from a few different states and a couple from Australia.  The worse was a sore foot at the end of the day. I have a heel spur that rarely bothers me anymore when I am wearing my regular attire...blue jeans and sneakers. But I have to dress up a bit working in the shop...which in itself is a nice change, but sneakers and dress pants or skirts just don't suit so I wore a comfortable pair of shoes but still they didn't give the support of my standard sneakers.

Monday I did my regular home-care for "the guys" in the morning and have begun cleaning a couple hours for Freddie on Monday afternoons. Paul had the car, he dropped me off. I should have walked home, it would have taken me less than an hour but Freddie came home from fishing and said he'd be going to the harbour "soon". So I figured I'd get a drive home with him. Well by the time he was done a few calls, cooked a pot of lobster, cleaned up etc. it was almost 5 when I finally got home. I will so appreciate the day we get a second car again!

Yesterday I thought I'd have a day home but was asked to help bottle the rest of the Strawberry wine. We were done at 2pm but again I didn't have the car. I got up with Megan and would have gotten home with her at 5 but since we were done early (she works full time) after a third call I got Paul so he picked me up.  (It would be a 2 hour walk...wasn't  doing that)  It was about 2:30 when we got home. I threw on   some   old gardening clothes and got good and dirty cutting down and digging up an overgrown rose bush. It was getting too big, blocking my stone path and had become a transport system for the earwigs to our bedroom window. I even got the root out.  The I continued to dig deep and get the nasty gout weed and get the stones back on the pathway. Megan came home and she sponsored supper....Take-out at Brehaut's Restaurant. Paul had finished mowing when it was ready and I was so dirty I wasn't fit to go pick it up so he went over.
I work my regular work today at the boys this morning and this afternoon I'll put on my secretary hat.  I will be working Thursdays and Saturdays in the shop later but just Saturday for now.....so that means tomorrow...I'm OFF! ....Yeah!
Hope you are having a great week! Happy Hump Day!

    the weekend

    Weekend.gif
I would normally be writing this blog early on Saturday morning but our electric company is moving/changing some poles in our area and the power will be off 2-6am and in case it is later I won't have time.  Yeah I work tomorrow. Yesterday I started at the winery and the boss asked me to go Saturday too. I don't think I'll be going Thursday's on a regular bases 'til the tourist season gets in full swing though. I don't do any of the fun stuff...I just take care of the shop. But it's a chance to wear nice dressier clothes and I meet lots of different people from all over Canada, the US, Japan and some other countries. (Hmm...I can do that just staying home blogging...he-he) I hope someone else will be working around to give me a lunch break though. It sure makes it long when it gets busy and I don't have a break.

I just got a message today that a women wants me to call her back regarding homecare. So I want to find out from Freddie if I can catch him home between fishing/visiting Joyce/sleeping, to see if he wants me every week. Then I will try to decide if and how much more work I want from a new client. During the winter I could have used more work, I only worked 5 hours homecare and 6 hours total at the church as secretary.  The summer is when I'd rather work less hours, and more in the winter. Especially  now that the weather is getting so nice. I hear the call to garden and not go to work.

At the church office we are just on dial-up. Some of my blogging friends have had trouble opening my blog and other problems, so I thought from work I would see how it was.  Well it took the longest time and when it was loaded the blogs didn't show up nor my photos. I could open the blogs on the side but I could view it when I first opened my site. I wish I new what I uploaded to cause any problems. I got rid of my music thinking that was the problem. Then I put a more simple theme on. Facebook is so fast but blogging is my first love  Besides my friends are here (though some also have facebook) Hope you are off to a good start on your weekend!

    Happy Hump Day!

    HaveaFairyNiceDayJF.gif

Well it didn't rain much yesterday. I thought I'd be forced by nature to get some inside jobs done, but darn, didn't that old sun come dry up the beds and decide to shine all nice and spring like!  I got the dishwasher emptied, one load clothes washed and the fridge cleaned. I settled down to read "just a bit" of a book I was reading "The Accidental Tourist" before getting the dusting down, then I read "for just a bit longer" then "just another half hour". Before I knew it I was done and faye aka gardener, instead of faye aka artist, took me outside and I spent the afternoon fighting the gout-weed from the bed along the house. I'm sad to report the expiration of my Clematis, I think it was overcome by gout.  I am back to work today but my body is glad so it can get a good rest. My fingers and back were awfully sore last night since they hadn't really recovered from the weekend "workout" in the garden.

    ilovegardening.jpg

I've uploaded some pictures of most of my flower beds if you want to see them in my photos.

Joyce is back in Montague hospital but within 10mins of arriving the hospital called and wanted someone to come in as she was restless. Then yesterday they told Freddie that someone in the family will have to be with her 24/7. If not they will have to restrain her and have her sedated. I don't know what is causing her agitation but she is on so much medication it may be from one or more of them. Last night Freddie called a nurse to come stay the night.  Paul went in for three hours this afternoon. Paul has been making numerous calls. Hospice will make arrangements and stay with her but only during the day. He is also looking into her insurance from her previous work and see if anything is covered. Poor Freddie is up at 3:30 am, fishes all day then cleans up and heads in to see his wife. At least he has a shorter distance to travel now.

Curtis and Ellen are going through a bad time. They are always not far from my thoughts. Ellen is not well and is arranging for Palliative Care. If you know them, and even if you don't, they are an amazing couple. They can really use all the hugs and well wishes that are sent their way.

This morning I blog walked and many of you have rain, hot temps, and thunderstorms. Now I feel guilty...nice warm but not hot days of sunshine...even when the forecast calls for rain it only has been raining late evening, night and early morning. Sorry to gloat but with the snow storm in May and cold wet weather ever since I am a happy gardener. Hope the weather clears for you and you can enjoy whatever you like to do in the nice weather.

    Gardening weekend

    Working_in_garden.gif

I had a great weekend gardening . The weather was just right not hot nor cold and lots of sun. I still have most of the beds near the house to do and the rock garden my turn out to be  a summer job it is so over grown I may have to move every rock to get it cleaned up. Paul mowed yesterday so that sets the beds (that are done) off nicely . I got the rocks around our small pond all cleaned up and the old growth on the plants in it. I also hand scooped a bunch of leaves out but will have to wait for Paul's help to take the plants out and clean the liner up. The plants are all tangle up and I just can't lift them out by myself.

My baby girl turned 23 today. It's hard to imagine how fast the years went by since we brought her home to her big brother and sister! She was such a good baby now she is a beautiful lady!

Joyce may be transferred back to Montague Hospital. Freddie hopes they aren't' moving her too soon. Maybe she will rally from this latest scare. I hope so. Freddie asked if I'd come up and clean the house for him. He is finding it too much with the hours he's spending fishing  then heading in to visit Joyce each day. So I may be going there tomorrow afternoon.

My boss at the winery thought I may be starting back soon. At first he is going to get me to come in Tuesday's and Thursday's then later when another girl starts working there also I will be working on Thursday's and Saturday's.  So I'm glad I have most of the garden beds cleaned up 'cause I may be short of nice sunny days off to garden. Last winter I didn't have enough work now that the weather is getting nice I'll have less time home. Sigh....but that's the way of life  on PEI where most jobs in the country anyway are seasonal.

The weekend is over but it was a good one. Hope yours was too.

    Friday

    10-1.gif

I didn't think the week would ever end. After working on Tuesday at the winery, my usual day off, I got all mixed up what day of the week it was.  I got a lot of gardening done though every chance I got.  Tuesday morning since I was working at 8:30 at the winery and since I woke up super early I was out in the garden like a crazy women at 5 am! That turned out a mistake 'cause before the day was over I was exhausted. After getting home a bit early I took to the garden again.

We were getting ready just before 6 to go over to our American friends, L & W for supper when we got a frantic call from Freddie's (Paul's brother) wife's (Joyce) mother. Joyce had been in our  local hospital on and off all spring. Joyce was being rushed to the larger hospital in Charlottetown by ambulance and her mother couldn't contact Freddie to tell him. So Paul took off to find him. Paul said he'd meet me at our friends but as it turned out Paul ended up taking Freddie to town.

I didn't stay long at L&W's after supper. I came home to phone some other family members and then had a fitful sleep on the couch 'til Paul got home at 12:15 am. The poor fellow was just dressed in shorts and sandals with no wallet or anything not planning to go anywhere. The evening had turned quiet cool. Krista met them at the hospital and gave Paul some money. On the way home Freddie and Paul stopped at MacDonald's for a burger as both of them hadn't had any supper.

Joyce was stabilized but her doctor said her lungs are shot and to "be prepared". Poor Freddie has been a wreck all week, out on the boat fishing not knowing how his wife is then going to visit her each evening.

L & W are heading back to New Hampshire today. Even though it's nice to see them it will be nice to get back into routine.  We don't know how the outcome will be for Joyce whether she rallies from this latest spell or the worse happens. She is just 59 and used to be such a strong women 'til she took sick 13 years ago.

Are weather isn't hot but it isn't freezing anymore. My tulips are mostly in bloom along with Rock Cress, Violets galore and the Forget-Me-Nots. The female humming birds arrived early this week. We've seen at least two males and two females at our feeders. They have me dizzy coming and going, our feeders have never been so busy! We also had a squirrel visit us yesterday, we gave her nuts and apples and really enjoyed watching her (we think it is a she, her belly looks big and tits are swollen). This is the first time we've had a squirrel I know they can be a nuisance for most people.

O.K. I'm not on here for days and then I ramble on. Sorry. Hope you are having a good Friday in your corner of blog-land!
